Stealing Harryverse Flopsy: Chemistry Set
Title: Chemistry Set
Summary: A gift from Severus Snape.
Warnings: None.
It was just a visit like any other, of course; the child deserved a little experience with the Wizarding world, and certainly his godfather couldn't give it to him.
Severus Snape was unaccustomed to feeling pity for children. He didn't like the sensation. But he did pity Parvus -- Harry -- Parvus. He would have time enough to think of him as Harry, the son of the man who'd tormented him all through school. For now he could be Parvus, nephew of the brother Severus never had.
"Will I get to make potions someday?" Parvus asked, clinging to his sleeve as he spoke with an apothecary who did all his special-ordering.
"Yes," he replied brusquely.
"Like you?"
"You may aspire to be a Master of Potions," Severus answered.
"You're going to teach me?"
"Yes."
"When?"
Severus rolled his eyes and paid for his purchase.
Late that afternoon, Harry returned home clutching a small parcel; when Remus opened it with him, he began to laugh, though Sirius sulked.
"Junior Wizard's First Potion Kit," Remus read aloud, grinning at Sirius. "It looks as though Severus likes small children after all."

I'm currently reading Laocoon's Children 2, and I was very intrigued by the fostering you had the Altairs and the Blacks do. I suppose you're aware of the fact that exchanging children was extremely common in the Old Irish society, as attested in the stories, e.g. Táin Bó Cualnge and Scéla Muicce Mac Dathó, and they have forever problems with the split loyalties that creates. *g* (I was the one asking for Celtic themes and motifs in R/S stories a while back over at

Dumbledore and Dobby would both LOVE a nice pair of socks... or in Dobby's case, two nice mismatched socks.

(Anonymous) 2009-11-17 12:44 am (UTC)(link)Well, it's just that Severus's brother's nephew would be Severus's son. So it should be SON of the brother Severus never had. As hilarious as the thought of Parvus as Serverus's son is...
But now that I'm done being annoyingly precise, I'd like to say that this is such a wonderful little story. I love this universe. I'd like to LIVE in this universe, and it's nice that you have all these little fill-in stories.
