Show Me; HP Drabble, Remus/Harry, PG.

From drabble night....

Prompt: May/December; a photo of a field of Bluebonnets.
Rating: PG
Pairing: Remus/Harry.
Warnings: None.

***

After the war, his eyes changed colour. It wasn't contact lenses; he still wore glasses. Perhaps it was some sympathy with Sirius, or a rejection of green-eyed Tom Riddle.

Remus came across him lying in a field of blue flowers down below Hogwarts; his eyes were blue now too -- he did look like Sirius as Remus sat and studied his upturned face. Harry propped himself on his elbows, smiling.

"Classes start tomorrow," Remus said. "Certain you want to stay?"

"Hogwarts was always my home. I'm looking forward to teaching."

"Me too."

"You're the Headmaster. I'll be asking you loads of questions."

"Oldest and youngest."

Before Remus could stop him one hand had taken him by the neck, pulling him down into a kiss that was sweet and hazed with blue, like Harry's eyes.

"So I suppose you'll show me, then?" Harry asked.

Remus nodded slowly and sank down into the field, disappearing completely in the blue.

Hang on... Sirius' eyes are grey.

Holy crap the drabble was so good I forgot that. Of course that's questionable canon 'cause JKR said it but...

busaikko's eyes are grey; but every person I meet in Japan insists that they're blue. Tis a fine line.

[identity profile] merenwen-81.livejournal.com 2005-11-15 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
The problem is, Tom Riddle's eyes aren't green. They're brown. And I think that is canon, not something JKR said on her site.

[identity profile] sam-storyteller.livejournal.com 2005-11-16 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Grah. Dammit. :D I got both eyecolour sets wrong. Ah well....

[identity profile] merenwen-81.livejournal.com 2005-11-16 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I wanted to check the eye-color thing to make sure I wasn't the one who had it wrong. In the HBP, Tom's eyes are described as "dark", wich I take to mean dark brown. Green eyes rarely look dark.

[identity profile] raedragonstar.livejournal.com 2008-03-11 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Unless you're Tom Riddle, who I cannot help but picture with eyes an unnaturally dark shade of green. Like if you made Slytherin-green a few shades darker.

But no one is sure what color his eyes are.....

It's not like I hang on to every word Sam posts, but I remember him saying (after JKR wrote on her site that Sirius' eyes are gray) that British people call light blue gray and he had already made Sirius' eyes blue and was now calling it light blue.

Also, the argument of artistic license can apply. :D

[identity profile] sam-storyteller.livejournal.com 2005-11-16 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
*facepalms*

I mean, I could argue that grey in England is a light-blue shade that could concievably darken in certain light, but the truth is I just totally forgot. :D

It's just a little fanon, it's still good, it's still good!

Still liking it this morning. :) Perhaps it was some sympathy with Sirius, or a rejection of green-eyed Tom Riddle. is still my favorite line.

[identity profile] sam-storyteller.livejournal.com 2005-11-16 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Man, it sucks that someone pointed out Tom Riddle's eyes aren't green *facepalm*

[identity profile] sharp-tongue.livejournal.com 2005-11-16 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Feh. Ignore the infidels! I thought no one knew what color his eyes were. Green came from the movie, I think, and that's canon enough for me! :>

[identity profile] coiledsoul.livejournal.com 2005-11-16 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
If I understand what your implying, I think that Harry's eyes being green because of Tom Riddle doesn't have anything to do with Tom's eyes being green and more to do with green being so often associated with him; Slytherin, the dark mark when it appears in the sky, the liquid Dumbledore drank to get the locket, avada kadavra that he uses so often. I think Harry's eyes being green because of Tom totally makes sense under those circumstances.

[identity profile] sam-storyteller.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
That's true; still, I ought to find a way around "green-eyed Tom Riddle" *sighs*

[identity profile] physixxx.livejournal.com 2006-01-13 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
i simply took it as a POV of whoever's 'thinking' the story... meaning the observer.. they can be wrong...

regardless of why, the idea that Harry's eyes stopped being green after his mother's protection dropped (assuming it'd drop b-c Voldy was gone) makes total poetic sense...

the fact that the "semi-omniscient observer" got the "why" wrong is merely fodder for the point, really.

even in 300 words or less, you have amazing storytelling skills.

Sweet! I love it when I find a Remus/Harry clear of angst.

It's strange: when I think of a blue-eyed Harry, it's the first time I've ever really found him attractive. I mean, in the film- Oh. Hold on.

[identity profile] ladylark77.livejournal.com 2005-11-15 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
So sweet!

I loved it and the picture was perfect.

[identity profile] whatever-sky.livejournal.com 2005-11-15 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Before Remus could stop him one hand had taken him by the neck, pulling him down into a kiss that was sweet and hazed with blue, like Harry's eyes.

Lol! That surprised me so much it squicked. I am 100% in Cartographer's Craft mode, with Remus being the sensible adult who almost doesn't consent to molest even Tonks' youth.

However, I love how you had Harry's eyes change color. I've never come across that idea in a fanfic. Everyone is obsessed with how greeny-green his eyes are.

[identity profile] merenwen-81.livejournal.com 2005-11-15 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
As a green-eyed (though not as bright green as Harry and Lily's) person, I kind of like that. I don't remember any other heroes that have green eyes and in some countries they even used to believe green eyes are a sign of a vampire.

[identity profile] whatever-sky.livejournal.com 2005-11-16 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree that green eyes can be very pretty, and have brownish-green eyes myself, but I guess what bothers me is that in every single fic that involves Harry with some sort of romantic partner, his eye color is always emphasized in that scene (you know the one) where they slowly lean towards eachother, staring into eachother's eyes, and then kiss. And after reading fic after fic after fic where this comes up, I've gotten sick of it. It's like...I know his eyes are green, already. Stop telling me.

And yes, now that I think about it, green eyed heroes/heroines are very rare...that's odd.

[identity profile] lenta-85.livejournal.com 2005-11-21 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I know what you mean by repeating it. I'm green eyed too, so I notice when eyes are green, thaks. And honestly, why are the eyes always emerald green? It's unnatural, no eyes can be that bright. I know, must make everything so great, but still.

[identity profile] sidial.livejournal.com 2005-11-16 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
Guh. Love Harry/Remus ... and that is just ... *melts into a puddle of goo*

And I love how it's so short, because it leaves so much to the imagination. ;)

[identity profile] sam-storyteller.livejournal.com 2005-11-16 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't used to like Harry/Remus at ALL, but lately it's been fun to play around with.

[identity profile] troubleinchina.livejournal.com 2005-11-19 12:24 pm (UTC)(link)
My eyes skimmed right over the pairing and read Harry/Sirius, so I was surprised. ;)

I like surprises.

[identity profile] verdenia.livejournal.com 2006-05-04 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Spiffy. Very neat and interesting; cool to imagine Remus as Headmaster. Presumably Harry has rather forced the Ministry to treat werewolves as humans, and/or lycanthropy has been cured.
I like.

[identity profile] cat-feral.livejournal.com 2007-02-20 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Hem-hem! This was... well written. And... slashy.

BTW, I think Tom Riddle's eyes were gray, weren't they?
