Awww.. worth the wait but still I missed the regular updates. *hint* *poke*
I think it was good the adoption issue was raised in a bit more depth. Earlier in LC we heard about Andromeda complaining about how Draco was too thin and how she wanted to adopt him which also raised questions about Harry not being adopted, and also the legal situation Remus would be in if Sirius died and Harry was still considered a minor.
"Sirius says Draco's mum is evil, and she went mad on account of Draco's dad being in Azkaban." I find this sentence intriguing. While it is odd that a twelve year old boy is using words such as "account" (despite his upbringing) in such a manor it's doesn't seem grammatically correct (I think he should have said "on the account") it does give a nice realism in that it's not right and a feel that that is how Harry is speaking. Overall it does make you think. It's good and has an odd depth.
a toad, a snake, and an owl (Ted's Christmas present to Neville), So Neville gets to take two familiars to Hogwarts. Uhhh... well it is your story but there may be a complication or two with that part.
Do they call them "bellhops" in England or Spain? I always called them porters but maybe that's just my Aussie upbringing.
I'm actually surprised that Dumbledore was so indiscreet to mention the suspicions of Hagrid in front of the other teachers. Now they know something like this has happened before or that Dumbledore was so shocked that he let it slip out. Maybe it's a show of trust that he lets it out.

Anyways looking forward to the next chapter Sam.
