Because of the incest factor, SPN has a larger-than-usual contingent of gen writers, but fandom at large is still driven by Sam/Dean (and, more importantly, the show's fanservice is geared toward that majority.) Speaking personally, the show took such a deep nosedive between seasons 2 and 3 that I've really only been a casual fan since then. I just can't get invested anymore.
