Well, I screamed at the television anytime Claire mentioned her 'real' parents, her 'real' mother, etc. But then again, when I was 16, I used the same words to define the man who was supposed to be my father.
If my father isn't real -- that is to say if he is somehow intangable -- than what is real and what is not? Whenever people ask me about my 'real' dad, I just go 'Well, my fake dad's enough. Wish he were tangible. Damn, it sucks having a fake father.' Most people drop it after that.
