The clench line was actually a quote -- the episode in S1 where he begs her to come back, his pager goes off while they're talking and he says "Oh god, unclench. Because when you clench, then I clench, that's a mess...." :D

I do think Cameron is more confident than in Canon, in this story, but that's the problem I think -- if both of them are insecure, it ends up like the one abortive date they went on. One of them has to push. It doesn't always have to be the same person, but someone always has to be doing it. :D
