I have no experience with Norse epics (other than those I've tried to look up so I can factcheck a few things on Vikings), but I remember that effing NO ONE in a Greek epic can let an opportunity to describe the sky or sun go by. Not just "morning" but "rosy fingered Dawn."

Also, in a Greek epic, every line of dialogue is followed by; spake so and so.
