In the 50's Chapman tried to sell a serialised account of his wartime adventures to a newspaper but was blocked because his activities were still highly classified. In complaint he arranged a photograph that shows him holding up a paper and peering out through a huge hole cut through the middle of it :) (the photo appears in 'Agent Zigzag' which is an excellent account of his time as a spy).
Chapman is entertaining as hell, but I suspect he was less philanthropic than Garbo - he did quite well financially out of his spying in the end.
