This is just everything I like best about these characters. Clark Kent is *smart*, and he's observant and he's not a reporter by chance, anymore than he is a hero by one. And he's a friend of Bruce Wayne and Batman because of who he is and who Bruce Wayne is, not just because they're paired up to fight badguys.

I have this whole big thing where I love that Clark Kent (Superman) is who he is because that's who he's chosen to be-- nobody made him be it, nobody outside selected him and gave him his destiny, he's not doing it as a reaction to anything, he's not doing it because it's a family tradition. He's Superman because he wants to help people, because he feels that he should, because he likes being who that is. And he's Clark Kent, reporter, because he likes who he is there as well. Because he values words and truth and investigation, because he likes telling a story and finding out how things fit together.

(I'm a fan of the house of El in general-- Kon, Clark, Kara, even Krypto, and the Kents just as much if not more.)
