Oh, I'm so glad Bluejeans07 won a bet with you! Lose more bets! :D I love your voice for Clark--first-person is hard to pull off for him in some ways, I think, but you get it just right. Just a quick (ha!) skim of the moments that struck me the most:
He has a nicer cape than mine, which is a little annoying.
*snork* Oh, and I especially love how in daylight it's less imposing.
"Everyone likes Picasso," I point out, and let the statement hang there. He bites at his thumbnail.
The whole interview is great, the interplay and Bruce's annoyed testing and eventual resignation--one of the amazing things about the story is how Clark manages to get the best of Bruce without any intention of it, usually because Bruce is over-thinking (of course).
"Look out for him. I've had enough of people getting hurt because they happen to be...involved..."
Augh, Bruce being protective of Clark is the most amazing thing.
It's not something I say, really, not something I say aloud anyway. When would I have reason to? The name sounds foreign in my mouth, wrongly-pronounced somehow.
Lovely detail, because it's true--it's not a name he throws around much at all, and it probably would feel really weird for him to say it.
I open it, and there's a single black flower blossom inside -- folded and rolled out of a scrap of his cape.
Oh man, I started grinning so hard here I had to take a break from reading for a moment. :)
And I'm there before I can think, grabbing him in the instant between upward motion and inevitable gravity
So beautiful, what an image, I can see it so clearly and wish someone would draw it--there's lots of canonical art of the two together in mid-air, but there'll probably never be any art so entirely G-rated and yet so damn sexy.
he smiles and taps his fingers on the back of my hand, the closest he ever comes to a caress in public -- right before he leans over and kisses me.
Ha! I mentioned I love your Clark, but your Bruce is a joy as well--especially in this refusal to be easily-understood or pigeonholed.
