I now want fic where Steve and Tony do the simultaneous talking-listening-thinking thing so much that eventually Steve winds up halfway unintelligible if he's been in any sort of proximity to Tony recently--he has this semi-conscious idea that since he managed to pick up the Epic Multitasking then so can everyone else.
But then Steve realises that no, actually, not everyone can do that with such facility. And then he has a weird period of being unnaturally polite to everyone because now he does Tony-speak without noticing and WHAT EVEN THAT IS SO INCONSIDERATE OF HIM! /o\
Also he winds up a relatively decent engineer by osmosis because he gets into the habit of...what was it Tony said? Rubbernecking?...whenever he doesn't have anything better to do because he loves watching Tony work. Also distracting him from work. But that is neither here nor there. *ahem*
And someone (Rhodey, maybe? not having see them in a few months?) comes down to the lab looking for Tony and finds him and Steve babbling with JARVIS about...some new design or something, and then Steve's arguing with Tony about........Idk. The force distribution capabilities vs the overall mass of the alloys and fibers Tony's working on for the (yet again) new and improved suit he's designing for Steve because WHAT IF SOMEONE THROWS A(nother) GRENADE AND YOU DECIDE YOU HAVE TO JUMP ON IT?????
Steve is in favor of less cleverly-disguised alloy plate armor bits and more enhanced fiber-metal weaves because BETWEEN THE SERUM AND THE SHIELD THE NUMBERS FOR THE ENHANCED FIBER ARE PERFECTLY ADEQUATE, TONY, DNW THE EXTRA 20 POUNDS! IT MAKES IT MORE DIFFICULT TO..... SO TRAIN MORE!.....if you'll excuse my interruption, it is precisely 18.65 pounds.......AND FFS IT'S 18.65 POUNDS, STEVE, THAT'S PRACTICALLY....which could have a significant impact over an extended period......THANK YOU, JARVIS. SEE? DNW....
...aaaaand then Rhodey backs away slowly, because they are scarily alike and he can't handle this shit rn.
