Weird. I live in Australia and even though the cultural influences have shifted a lot we still get a generous dose of English popular culture courtesy of the government funded television channel, which gets something like a third of its content from the BBC.
A few years ago the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) screened every single available episode of Doctor Who consecutively, one per night, from the First Doctor to the Seventh (plus the movie featuring Eight), as a lead up to the new series.
