When I think about the things that left me dissatisfied with CoE, especially regarding Jack/Ianto, it's not so much the issues that were raised, but the way they were raised; to me, it felt very much like an afterthought (and I say that with full respect towards people who felt otherwise -- I'm not trying to claim that my reading of CoE is the be all and end all). I think that in this fic (and in misswinterhill's VS episode), you raise those same issues in a way that I do find satisfying; you explore the implications of all this stuff (the nature of Ianto's relationship with Jack, the nature of his relationship with his family) for the characters in a way that feels consistent with what we saw in S2.
