I'd be very surprised if there weren't some linguistic resonances between Jack's 'milk tongue' and known Earth languages, since historically speaking humans tend to cling to the familiar when in a strange land. Not too much of a stretch to imagine that some of the most basic words survive almost intact over the passage of many centuries and light years....
