I went in a slightly different direction -- him meeting her just once -- but I probably won't expand it, so here ya go :D

Ianto was sixteen, and horrified to discover that the only things he could think about for more than thirty seconds at a time were:

1. Calculus and
2. Sex

and that both of them caused vastly inappropriate reactions in public.

He spent a lot of time hiding, his sixteenth year, not so much because he was intimidated by girls, per se -- or boys, and wasn't that an entirely new level of confusion to deal with -- but because he would rather be fully in control of himself when he dealt with other people. His father just thought he was in an awkward stage and left him to it, for which he was profoundly grateful.

He was doing maths homework when he heard the pair of patrons enter the shop; from the sound of it, through the doorway to the back workroom. He heard his father welcome them in, and the man start right off -- needed some mending and alteration and also a good recommendation of a dressmaker for his granddaughter. Curious, Ianto rose from the desk and peered through the door.

The man wore age well enough, a white cap of hair falling almost to his shoulders and a pleasant if somewhat knobby face. His daughter was nothing more than a shadow moving among the racks, exploring, and Ianto gave a little disappointed sigh before returning to his homework.

"Hello," said a voice, after a few minutes. "What're you doing?"

Ianto decided not to look up. This was part of his Don't Look Like The Horny Teenager You Are plan.

"Calculus," he said. "Can I help you, miss?"

"Calculus? How grand," she replied, and the chair next to his was drawn out. "Let me see?"

Ianto looked over and found himself inches from a sweet, intelligent young face. She smiled at him.

"I'm Susan," she said. "Who're you?"
