I just saw the first eight eps of "Dexter" on DVD this week, and I'm intrigued by the many xover fic possibilities "Dexter" offers. Grissom was the first character I thought of who has a similar dry, ironic voice.

Reading this, I remembered the ep a few years ago where Grissom says he financed his first body farm, back in college, by winning poker games. He has that same detached-observer relationship to the rest of humanity.

After all, you didn't learn anything about a crime scene unless you were standing in the middle of it.

What a great line to end on. Let me know if you write more about these two shows.
