In II, which I have a broader scope on in my head, Neal is trustworthy inasmuch as he is scared shitless by Adler, who is way more dangerous and violent than Neal knew. Neal's also much younger in that one. It's neat to write Neal as absolutely too overwhelmed to be conning; I like cracking that mask. :)
